Welcome to Kamu Siapa Kitchen! "Kamu siapa?" is an open question. In Indonesian, it means "Who are you?" and to us, it means, "What food, what culture, has made you?" Come and show us!
Currently, we teach specialized cooking classes a few times a month and organize food experiences ad hoc that encourage our community to think, interact, and cook food with intention and respect for its production and the food industry at-large.
If you don't see a slot you can make, you can request a slot by e-mailing us. We accept requests for parties for 2, on a case-by-case basis. If you have a party of 3-4 already committed, we will be more likely to accept your request.
Once we have a full class of 3-4 people, we will then send a confirmation message with the address for class and other details you will need to prepare.

The Sambalogy class was a great experience! Dakota is super knowledgeable, with a really fascinating insider-outsider perspective on Indonesia & it's cuisine; he's also an attentive teacher and a wonderful host!

Dakota was such a pleasure to learn from! I really appreciated the work and love he put in the fine details, even giving context to the ingredients that went into the sambals we made, from their history and the attributes they lent to the flavor, and why certain local substitutes give the best approximation to some the the harder-to-find components.
Such a fantastic and interesting person to get to know, and such passion and attention to their craft . . . at the same time so humble and encouraging with their knowledge and teaching!
I learned so much and had such a great afternoon -- such a treat of an experience. - Vince Wong··from Google
As someone unfamiliar with (and even intimidated by) sambal cooking, I found that Dakota's thoughtful Sambalogy lesson on its history, composition, and preparation made it very approachable, fun, and educational. He also has broad knowledge of kitchen best practices which helped me with improving my prepwork efficiency.
With Dakota's patient coaching, my sambal ended up tasting incredible, and I can't wait to try making these again!
